Partner Betrayal and Trauma

Gaslighting

Despite how hard you’ve worked to please, does nothing ever seem to be good enough?  You’re blamed for things that don’t make sense, and when you try to express your emotions they’re immediately dismissed with statements such as “That’s not what happened,” “You’re too sensitive!” or “You’re crazy.”  Over time, you started to believe there was something wrong with you.

Partners who never take accountability or use manipulative words such as “I’m sorry you think that I hurt you” or justify their behavior by saying “I did that because I was trying to help you” are not apologizing or assuming any responsibility for their words or actions.  Their words only increase your self-doubt and cause you to question your interpretation of the situation.

Betrayal

The betrayal cuts like a knife and it leaves you questioning how you got here?  The hurt is deep, and the sense of deception and rejection is real.  It wasn’t supposed to happen to you! Now you’re picking up the pieces of deception, infidelity, and broken trust in your romantic relationship.

Partner betrayal shows up in infidelity, sex addiction, or deceit around substance addiction.  Fear drives anxious behaviors as you try to manage, control, and prevent further betrayal.  Insincere apologies, or gaslighting about how “you’re overreacting” only fuel your anxiety and depression.

The Healing Journey

When trust is broken it weakens the strength and confidence in your partnership, relationship, or marriage. Whether you hope to repair your relationship, or let go of a relationship that no longer works…you’re in the right place.

Healing begins when you recognize signs of betrayal and gaslighting and change your response to someone else’s bad behavior.  This requires changing your beliefs about yourself and increasing positive beliefs about what you deserve.

You are worthy of recovery and healing. My 3-Day EMDR Intensives are the most effective way to help you reclaim your life and increase confidence in yourself.
